A one-year internship in the Division of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is offered through the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery's division of dentistry. The program is designed to allow recent dental graduates, licensed in Illinois, a wide and intense exposure to the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, hospital surgical activities and both university and private practice.
The Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Intern will participate in all phases of the surgical services which include:
- In-patient and out-patient management
- Level 1 Trauma
- Dentoalveolar Surgery
- Orthognathic and Reconstructive Surgery
- Surgical Pathology
- Implant Surgery
The Oral & Maxillofacial Intern will function at a PGY-1 level with on-call duties and opportunities for operating room cases. The interns will also participate in the didactic programs that serve the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residents at the University of Illinois at Chicago: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
The internship year will be spent at the McGaw Medical Center of Northwestern University hospitals (Northwestern Memorial Hospital, University of Illinois Medical Center, and Ann and Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago), as well as at the University of Illinois Hospitals and UIC Dental School.
Residency Appointment and Stipend

Interested applicants should submit their PASS application if available, and curriculum vitae, most recent dental school transcript, national dental board scores (Part I and II), three letters of recommendation, and a letter of intent to Tracy Bannen.
