Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery

Medical Specialties

The faculty of Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine have interests and experience in virtually every area of our expansive specialty. Though otolaryngology focuses on disorders in the ear, nose, and throat, our faculty members teach, conduct research, and provide care (at Feinberg-affiliated care sites) related to hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, and language, as well as cancers of the head and neck and reconstructive and cosmetic plastic surgery.

Clinical Specialties

Through our clinical operations out of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, our residents and fellows are exposed to a wide variety of conditions and gain experience related to providing care as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Our faculty members are leaders in the field of reconstructive dentistry, including full mouth rehabilitation and implantology.

The Cochlear Implant Program at Northwestern has been active since 1993.   Northwestern has been a site for many pre-market implant trials; excellent relationships are maintained with the three FDA-approved cochlear implant manufacturers.  The audiologists and otologists work together in the evaluation and management of possible cochlear implant candidates and subsequent recipients.
